Accessibility — what is actually here

Many mountain cabins put bedrooms up a staircase. This cottage was set up so a wheelchair user and older relatives can use the same house as everyone else.

Getting in and parking

  • Ramp from the sidewalk to the door. No step at the entry.
  • Loop driveway so a van can pull through. No need to back down a hill.
  • Room for about 5 cars.

Inside the house

  • The whole home is on one floor.
  • Smooth plank floors. Wide halls and doorways.
  • Open living room, dining area, and kitchen.

Bedrooms

  • Two bedrooms planned for wheelchair use.
  • One room has articulating beds to help with comfort and transfers.
  • A TV in every bedroom.

Bathroom

  • One ADA bathroom with a roll-in shower.
  • Grab bars and turning space for a wheelchair.
  • Two other bathrooms in the house as well.

If you need to confirm a wheelchair size, lift, or shower chair before you book, call (815) 557-4886. We would rather answer that on the phone than have you guess.

The rest of the cottage

  • About 1,800 square feet.
  • Large sectional sofa and a 65-inch TV in the living room.
  • Kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, coffee maker, Keurig, Instant Pot, Crock-Pot, and filtered water.
  • Washer and dryer. Heat and air conditioning. WiFi.
  • 60-foot covered front porch with rocking chairs.
  • 12 by 16 foot back deck that a wheelchair can use.
  • Fire ring outside.
